VACD News Flash!!!:

Our thanks to David Graber - Case Officer Registration at the Australian Charities and not for Profits Commission (ACNC) and Allan Baluyot - Technical Officer (Interpretative Guidance) at the the Australian Taxation Authority (ATO) for their guidance and assistance. VACD Operating Model:

We share with you a slide depicting the VACD operating model. This is the concept of Milton Perera, Chairman VACD Ltd Sri Lanka, a veteran non government, not for profit charity expert who has spent over 33 years in this field. This dynamic model functions with key participants combining their skills, expertise and resources towards achieving the common goal of uplifting the lives of disabled children and their families and working as a team under the VACD Ltd umbrella.

Latest Development:

The Regional Development Bank (RDB) Bandarawela, in partnership with VACD Ltd has extended its first Grameen Banking concept based micro financing to a few parents of VACD Ltd registered children. More information to follow soon.

Educational Assistance Program- (EAP):

  • The Educational Assistance Program (EAP) was implemented in February 2015 to provide assistance on a needs and priority basis to a disabled child who shows the ability to further his/her academic career or to a sibling who shows promise of higher academic achievement so that this sibling would provide much needed support and assistance to the disabled child once parental/guardian support is not available. The program is closely monitored and reviewed by the parents group and the VACD Ltd leadership who audit the use of sponsorship funds by each child and their academic progress on a quarterly basis. Any conclusive evidence pointing to the misuse or abuse of the EAP facility would  result in the child being automatically removed from the program and another child on the waiting list being included.
  • As we extend our footprint across the Uva province, the number of children eligible to receive support under this program increases exponentially. Presently the number of eligible children far exceeds the number of sponsorship pledges.
  • Please do consider joining the program or solicit support for this worthy program from family, friends and colleagues.
  • Your continued support is critically important to these children. Joining the program would require a monthly donation of A$20 or approximate equivalent Rs.2,000 per child.
  • We thank our sponsors of the EAP for their generosity, support and love for our children.
